Aimed at training the participant in the basic techniques of the silver based photographic processing (also called analog), so that he/she obtains an understanding of the process in all its phases by practicing them.
Specific works on sensitive material (film and paper) behaviour, chemical dilutions, a method of light measuring, light tests on film and paper and the final printing on paper will be worked on.
During the workshop, special attention will be paid to the understanding and practice of the four basic phases of the silver photographic process.
Analog Process in Black and White is located in the Initiation level of the IEFC Darkroom itinerary, which also includes Darkroom Sessions (advanced level) and Argentic Series (advanced level).
Joan Teixidor
Degree in Sociology from the University of Barcelona and the University of Toulouse Le Mirail. He studies photography at the IEFC and designs and applies an educational process for the Initiation to the Black and White Laboratory.
Manager until 2016 of the Barcelona Visions gallery, where he worked in the roles of gallerist and artist, curating more than 20 exhibitions.
Since 2017 he has been teaching laboratory workshops in different training centers. Professor of specialization at the IEFC where he teaches the courses of Analog Process in Black and White, , Darkroom Sessions and Argentic Series where he provides technical support to participants.
As artist, he works in two creative lines, one based on classical tradition and the other on
experimentation through cameraless photography.
He has published the book Visions of Death Metal 2010-2021, Copenhagen, 2022.
Opacities, Shores, Do Not Feed The Birds are his last silver based exhibitions.
In 2020, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya acquires for its collection 12 photograms of the Negativity series within the National Photography Plan.
He combines and adapts his professional activity with his artistic projects.

– Review and selection of negatives.
Sunday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.:
– The printing process: Tests and decisions.
– First prints in silver gelatin paper.
